Chyler Leigh Potts was born on April 10, 1982, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her early life involved modeling and acting in local television commercials and a syndicated teen news show, ‘Hall Pass’. At age 16, Leigh relocated to Los Angeles with her mother to further her acting career, completing her high school education via the California High School Proficiency Exam. Her foundational experiences in these early years provided a springboard for her subsequent professional engagements.
Leigh’s career gained significant traction with her lead role as Janey Briggs in the 2001 comedy film ‘Not Another Teen Movie’. This exposure led to roles in short-lived television series such as ‘Girls Club’ (2002) and ‘That ’80s Show’ (2002), followed by a regular cast member position in the ABC legal drama ‘The Practice’. A major turning point in her career came with her casting as Lexie Grey in the ABC medical drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ in 2007, a role she held for five years. Her portrayal resonated with audiences, leading to increased recognition and a dedicated fanbase. Following her departure from ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ in 2012, Leigh appeared in the film ‘Brake’ (2012) and the TV movie ‘Window Wonderland’ (2013).
