Angela Sarafyan

Angela Sarafyan was born in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, USSR, on June 30, 1983. At the age of four, she immigrated to the United States with her parents, an actor and a painter, settling in Los Angeles. Her early life included training in ballet and piano. Sarafyan commenced her acting career in 2000 with a role in the CBS legal drama “Judging Amy” and a cameo in Britney Spears’ music video “Stronger.” She also made guest appearances in television series such as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and obtained a role in the 2002 television film “Paranormal Girl.” Her uncredited film debut was in the 2004 comedy-drama “The Last Run.”

Sarafyan continued to appear in various television productions, including “The Shield,” “24,” “CSI: NY,” and “The Mentalist.” Her filmography expanded with roles in the 2007 films “Kabluey” and “On the Doll.” In 2008, she secured her first lead role as Maggie in the drama film “A Beautiful Life” and took a minor role in “The Informers.” The period between 2009 and 2015 marked her increased recognition with roles in films like “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” (2012), where she played the Egyptian vampire Tia, and “Lost & Found in Armenia” (2012). She also had roles in “The Immigrant” (2013) and “Paranoia” (2013), which featured notable actors such as Liam Hemsworth and Harrison Ford.

From 2016 to 2022, Sarafyan gained significant prominence as Clementine Pennyfeather in the HBO science-fiction series “Westworld,” a role that led to a nomination at the 23rd Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. During this time, she also appeared in the historical drama “The Promise” (2016) and the Netflix biographical thriller “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile” (2019). Her recent work includes “Reminiscence” (2021) and the upcoming action thriller “G20” (2025), alongside Viola Davis, and a cameo as Lara, Superman’s mother, in the 2025 DC Universe film “Superman.”
