Anna Paulina Luna, born in Santa Ana, California, in 1989, is an American politician representing Florida’s 13th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. A member of the Republican Party, Luna’s political career took a significant turn in 2022 when she was elected to Congress with the backing of former President Donald Trump. Her earlier attempt to secure a seat in the U.S. House in 2020 was unsuccessful, but her 2022 victory marked her as the first Mexican-American woman elected to Congress from Florida.
Luna’s diverse career includes notable service in the U.S. Air Force, where she served as an airfield management specialist from 2009 to 2014, stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri and Hurlburt Field in Florida. Her service earned her the Air Force Achievement Medal. After leaving active duty, she joined the Oregon Air National Guard. During her military career, she pursued higher education at the University of West Florida, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2017.
Before her election to Congress, Luna gained visibility through her work with Turning Point USA, where she served as the Director of Hispanic Engagement. Her media presence includes modeling work featured in Sports Illustrated and Maxim, and a brief stint as a cocktail waitress. Luna’s outspoken conservative views and membership in the House Freedom Caucus have made her a prominent figure in recent legislative debates.
In Congress, Luna has been active in high-profile issues, including sponsoring resolutions to impeach several top officials and advocating for the removal of Adam Schiff. She supported Jim Jordan and Byron Donalds for Speaker of the House during the January 2023 election. Luna is married to Andrew Gamberzky, a U.S. Air Force combat controller, and they welcomed a son in August 2023. She has also authored two books, “Marrying the Beret” and “Bringing Them Home,” which explore her experiences and perspectives.
