Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022, Anna Paulina Luna became the first Mexican-American woman elected to Congress from Florida, and was subsequently reelected in 2024. Prior to her career in public office, Luna served in the U.S. Air Force from 2009 to 2014 as an airfield management specialist at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri and Hurlburt Field in Florida.
Demonstrating a consistent conservative voting record, she has been a leading voice on significant legislative efforts. In 2023, she co-sponsored resolutions to impeach federal officials including Merrick Garland, Christopher Wray, Alejandro Mayorkas, and Matthew M. Graves. The same year, she sponsored a resolution to censure Adam Schiff and co-sponsored resolutions to expunge Donald Trump’s impeachments.
Additionally in 2023, Luna voted against the Fiscal Responsibility Act and supported both a ban on cluster munitions to Ukraine and a moratorium on aid to Ukraine. Continuing her impactful work, Luna currently chairs the El Salvador Caucus, a role she has held since 2024. In 2025, she was appointed to lead the House Oversight Task Force on declassification of federal secrets, further demonstrating her commitment to transparency. That same year, she introduced a bill proposing to add Donald Trump’s face to Mount Rushmore.
Highlighting her cross-aisle legislative efforts, in 2025 Luna also co-sponsored legislation with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez aimed at capping credit card interest rates, showcasing her dedication to policies benefiting average Americans. In 2025, Representative Luna resigned from the Freedom Caucus. Her career continues to be defined by her commitment to challenging what she views as the elitist political establishment and advocating for policies she believes uplift her constituents.
