Anthony G. Becht is a distinguished American professional football coach, broadcaster, and former player, currently serving as the head coach of the St. Louis BattleHawks in the United Football League (UFL) and as a color commentator for the New York Jets in the National Football League (NFL). Becht’s impressive career began when he was drafted by the Jets in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft, where he played as a tight end for 11 seasons, showcasing his skills with teams such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, St. Louis Rams, Arizona Cardinals, and Kansas City Chiefs.
During his time with the Jets, Becht made significant contributions on the field, starting all 16 games in multiple seasons and achieving career highs of 40 receptions for 356 yards and four touchdowns in 2003. His ability to perform under pressure was evident as he recorded game-winning touchdown catches in consecutive weeks. Becht’s college career at West Virginia was equally impressive, where he ranked second among tight ends in school history with 83 catches and 10 touchdowns, earning accolades such as second-team All-Big East and team captain.
Transitioning into broadcasting, Becht joined ESPN as a college football analyst in 2013 and has since expanded his role to include co-hosting the “Football Fan Shop” on the Home Shopping Network.
