About

Anthony Carter was born on September 17, 1960, in Riviera Beach, Florida. He played college football at the University of Michigan, where he earned four letters as a wide receiver. During his collegiate career, he was part of two Big Ten championship teams and received All-America honors three times between 1980 and 1982. Post-college, Carter began his professional football career in 1983 with the Michigan Panthers of the United States Football League (USFL). After two seasons with the Panthers, he transitioned to the National Football League (NFL).

In the NFL, Carter played for the Minnesota Vikings for nine seasons, from 1985 to 1993, and concluded his career with the Detroit Lions in 1994. During his time with the Vikings, he accumulated 478 receptions, establishing himself as a significant offensive player. His professional career spanned from 1983 to 1995 across both leagues. After retiring from playing, Carter was recognized for his achievements, being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001 and the University of Michigan Hall of Honor in 2002. In 2010, he was named a “Big Ten Icon” by the Big Ten Network, securing the 24th spot on their list.
