Ari Millen

Ari Millen was born on January 19, 1982, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. His initial aspiration was to play in the National Hockey League, but at the age of 17, an invitation to participate in a local play led him to pursue a career in performing arts. He later enrolled in Ryerson University’s Theatre School, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Shortly after, Millen began his professional acting journey with early television appearances in “ReGenesis” (2008), “Nikita” (2010), and “Rookie Blue” (2012). His interest in the horror genre was also evident in his involvement in films like “Monster Brawl” (2011) and “Exit Humanity” (2011), where he also contributed to the props department.

A significant turning point in Millen’s career came in 2013 when he successfully auditioned for the second season of the science fiction series “Orphan Black” after two prior attempts. His role as Mark Rollins expanded into portraying various Castor clones, which substantially elevated his public profile and critical recognition. He was promoted to the main cast for seasons three through five (2015-2017) of the series. His performance on “Orphan Black” earned him a Canadian Screen Award in 2016 for Best Leading Performance in a Drama Series. During this period, he also featured in “12 Monkeys” (2015), “Rupture” (2016), and had a guest appearance in “Reign” (2014).

Millen continued to build on his career with roles in a variety of productions across film and television. His filmography includes projects such as “Ejecta” (2014), “Hellmouth” (2014), “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan” (2018), and “I’ll Take Your Dead” (2018). More recently, he appeared in “The Oak Room” (2020), where he also served as a producer, and the horror-comedy “Vicious Fun” (2020). He also featured in the television series “The Expanse” (2018) and “Hudson & Rex” (2020-2021). His recent work includes “The Boy in the Woods” (2023) and “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” (2024), demonstrating his ongoing presence in the acting industry.
