Joe Dempsie

Joseph Maxwell Dempsie was born in Liverpool, England, in 1987 or 1988. He developed his acting skills at the Central Junior Television Workshop in Nottingham. His early career included roles in medical dramas such as “Peak Practice” (2000), “Doctors” (2001-2003), and “Sweet Medicine” (2003), as well as films like “One for the Road” and “Heartlands” (2003). These initial projects laid the groundwork for his future work in both television and film.

Dempsie rose to prominence with his role as Chris Miles in the E4 teen comedy-drama “Skins” (2007-2008), where he appeared in 19 episodes. Following this, he gained international recognition for his portrayal of Gendry Baratheon in HBO’s critically acclaimed series “Game of Thrones.” He was a recurring character in the first three seasons (2011-2013) and returned in a significant capacity for the seventh and eighth seasons (2017-2019), appearing in a total of 24 episodes. His career progression also includes appearances in “This is England ’86” (2010) and “This is England ’90” (2015), as well as the BBC Three series “The Fades” (2011), where he played the character John.
