Award-winning rugby union player Beauden Barrett plays for Taranaki, the Blues and is a Fullback for New Zealand’s national team the All Blacks.
Having been a passionate rugby player since his teens, Barrett first grabbed the attention of national teams across New Zealand when he played in the New Zealand Sevens team during the 2010 IRB Sevens World Series when he was just 19. He has since gone on to enjoy a successful rugby union career, playing in the first five-eighth position for the New Plymouth based team Taranaki and the Auckland based team the Blues, with whom he still plays for today. During 2011-2019 Barrett also enjoyed a period with the Super Rugby Union team the Hurricanes, based in Wellington. Having become renowned as one of the quickest rugby union players, in 2012 Barrett was named as the fullback for New Zealand’s All Blacks Irish tour. He has since gone on to play with the prestigious team throughout his career, including the 2015 2019 Rugby World Cups, during which he proved himself as a key player, with particular reference to the 2015 Rugby World Cup Final when Barrett scored the final try against Australia.
With numerous achievements under his belt, Barrett currently holds the world record for the highest number of consecutive wins since his first test (a total of 19 wins in 19 tests). During 2016 and 2017 Barrett was also named the prestigious World Rugby Player of the Year.
