Benjamin Toniutti

Benjamin Toniutti was born on October 30, 1989, in Mulhouse, France. He began his professional volleyball career early, with his first notable club spell being at Arago de Sète from 2009 to 2013. His talent as a setter quickly became apparent, leading him to international recognition. He made significant contributions to the French national team, becoming its captain in 2013. Under his leadership, the team experienced a resurgence, securing multiple major titles.

Toniutti’s club career has seen him play for several prominent European teams. After his time at Arago de Sète, he moved to Italy to play for CMC Ravenna in 2013-2014, followed by a brief stint at Zenit Kazan in 2014. In 2015, he joined VfB Friedrichshafen, where he won the German Cup and Championship. From 2015 to 2021, he was a key player for ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle in Poland, achieving multiple Polish Championship and Cup titles, as well as a CEV Champions League victory in 2020-21. He currently plays for Jastrzębski Węgiel in Poland, continuing to collect domestic titles.

His international career with the French national team is marked by significant achievements, including two World League titles in 2015 and 2017, and a European Championship in 2015. Toniutti has also played a crucial role in France’s Olympic appearances, participating in Rio 2016 and leading the team to a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 (held in 2021) Olympic Games. He is also a gold medalist from the 2024 Paris Olympics. His consistent performance and leadership have established him as one of the best setters globally, underlined by numerous individual awards for best setter in various competitions over the years.
