At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, snowboarder Billy Morgan from England took home the bronze medal in the Big Air competition.
Morgan was born in Southampton, England. At the age of fourteen, he began snowboarding for the first time on a dry slope after competing in acrobatic gymnastics. At the World Cup Finals event in Sierra Nevada, Spain in March 2013, Morgan finished third in the slopestyle competition, giving him his first podium finish in an FIS Snowboard World Cup competition. In the FIS World Ranking List for snowboard slopestyle, he ended the 2012–13 season in second place. At the FIS World Cup, Morgan has earned three medals. He represented Great Britain in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. In the men’s slopestyle final, Morgan placed tenth.
The world’s first ever 1800 degree quadruple cork or “quad cork” was landed by Morgan in April 2015. He achieved the feat on the Italian Alps, in the town of Livigino in the Lombardy region of Italy. A quad cork includes four off axis flips and five full rotations. In February 2016 at X Games Oslo, where he placed third in the Big Air competition, Morgan won his first X Games medal.
