Boston Rob Mariano

Robert Carlo Mariano, known as Boston Rob, was born on December 25, 1975, in Boston, Massachusetts. He later moved to Canton, Massachusetts, at age twelve. Mariano graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School in 1994 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Boston University in 1999. His public career began in 2002 with his debut on the fourth season of the CBS reality show, “Survivor: Marquesas.” Though eliminated in 10th place, his competitive nature became evident. In 2004, he returned for “Survivor: All-Stars,” where he formed a significant alliance with Amber Brkich, who later became his wife. This season showcased his strategic acumen, leading to a runner-up finish and a public marriage proposal during the live finale.

Mariano continued to build his television presence, participating in “The Amazing Race” twice with his wife, in seasons 7 (2005) and 11 (2007). He also hosted “The Player” (2004) on UPN and co-hosted “Sci Fi Investigates” (2006). His poker skills were highlighted in “Rob and Amber: Against the Odds” (2006-2007), a Fox Reality Channel series documenting his efforts to become a professional poker player. Returning to “Survivor” for its 20th season, “Heroes vs. Villains” (2010), he was actively involved in tribal dynamics before his elimination in 13th place.

His strategic abilities culminated in his victory on “Survivor: Redemption Island” in 2011, where he won the title of Sole Survivor. This marked a significant achievement in his reality television career, demonstrating his mastery of the game. Following this, he served as a mentor on “Survivor: Island of the Idols” (2019) and competed again in “Survivor: Winners at War” (2020), marking his fifth appearance and solidifying his record as the contestant with the most “Survivor” plays. Beyond “Survivor,” Mariano has been involved in other television projects, including “Secret Celebrity Renovation” (2022) and currently hosts the “Deal or No Deal Island After Show with Boston Rob” (2025). He has also appeared as a contestant on “Deal or No Deal Island” (2024) and “The Traitors 3” (2025).
