Known as one of the best wicket-keeperbatsmen in the world, Jos Buttler is the vice-captain of the England cricketteam. Buttler is also amember of the Lancashire County Cricket Club and the Rajasthan Royals of theIndian Premier League.
Jos, born as Joseph Charles Buttler,began his career in Somerset, England. In 2006, he joined the King’s Collegeteam and finished the season scoring 447 runs with a batting average of 49.66,setting two schoolrecords. In 2008, hewas promoted to captain of the team and topped his record with 851 runs and animproved batting average of 94.55. In2009, Buttler made his first-class debut playing for Somerset in the CountyChampionship against Lancashire. That sameyear, Buttlercaptained the King’s Collegeteam again leading them to victory in the Western School Twenty20 competition.After this performance, Buttler was awarded YoungWisden SchoolsCricketer of the Year.
In 2010, Buttler was offered a permanent spot on the Somerset team. As Somerset’s rising player, he was awarded the NBC Denis Compton Award in both 2010 and 2011. After a successful three seasons with Somerset, Buttler signed with Lancashire. In his first championship game as a member of Lancashire, hescored 42 runs.
Jos Buttler has played an importantrole on England’s international team. In 2012, he scored 30runs against South Africa at Edgbaston,a major contribution to the final score of 118/5. That year, hewas also invited to play for England in the ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka and wouldreturn to play in this competition in 2014 in India. He hasalso enjoyed internationalsuccess in New Zealand and Australia.
