Brian Dowling

Brian Dowling is an Irish television and radio presenter, best known for winning and hosting the reality series Big Brother, and for his current roles on 98fm and The 6 O’Clock Show. After winning the second series of the iconic reality show Big Brother in 2001, Brian Dowling went on to forge a dynamic career in television presenting, becoming a recognizable face across UK and Irish screens for over two decades. Following his breakthrough victory, Dowling co-presented SMTV Live from 2001 to 2003, making history as the first openly gay children’s television presenter. He then hosted his own show, Brian’s Boyfriends, on ITV in 2003 and narrated Channel 4’s reality series The Salon in 2004.

His early presenting roles continued with I’m Famous and Frightened! from 2004 to 2005, Celebrity Extra and Sky Digital’s Christmas Wrapped Up both in 2005, and The Mint from 2006 to 2007. Dowling expanded his versatile portfolio by participating in various high-profile reality programs, securing third place in Hell’s Kitchen in 2007 and runner-up status in Fáilte Towers in 2008. Demonstrating his competitive spirit, he won All Star Family Fortunes for charity and Come Dine with Me, both in 2007 and 2008 respectively.

He joined 98fm to present a new weekday morning show and became a new presenter for The 6 O’Clock Show on Virgin Media Television, extending his reach into daily radio and live television. In the same year, Dowling co-authored the book Brian and Arthur’s Modern Family: Births, Marriages, Deaths and Everything, offering a personal insight into family and surrogacy, a topic also explored in the accompanying documentary Brian and Arthur’s Very Modern Family. His current media commitments demonstrate his continued prominence and versatility in the entertainment landscape.
