Brian Gonzales is a stage and television actor who went from a Broadway understudy to the leading role in One Man, Two Guvnors. He has also appeared in Broadway show The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Shrek on both Broadway and on tour, in numerous regional productions including Aladdin at the 5th Ave, Seattle. His television credits include Law & Order, Elementary and The Four Players.
Gonzales was raised in Dallas where he attended Booker T. Washington School for the Performing and Visual Arts and W.E. Greiner Exploratory Arts Academy. He also studied acting at Garland Children’s Theater, Plano Repertory Theater and Dallas Theatre Center. Gonzales met his wife at the Plano Repertory Theater and the pair later moved to New York, where he has now lived for over a decade.
Gonzales got his big break in 2012 when he landed the role of a lifetime playing Francis Henshall in One Man, Two Guvnors on Broadway. The play was a runaway success, and
Gonzales stood in for James Corden on several occasions performing for New York audiences. Gonzales believes his experiences of growing up in the robust theater scene of Dallas gave him the tools required to become an actor in New York – a sharp brain and thick skin. Although he’s now firmly established as a Broadway favourite, Gonzales still loves to return to regional theater and play for smaller crowds in his home city of Dallas where he first learnt his trade.
