Massachusetts-raised actress Briga Heelan began her acting career studying musical theater in New York City before moving to Los Angeles to pursue comedy. She has since taken on roles in many popular television series such as Ground Floor, Undateable, Love, and Great News after her breakout role as Holly in the sitcom Cougar Town.
Heelan grew up in Andover, Massachusetts where her mother was an actress and her father was a writer. She pursued an acting career from a young age which later culminated with a degree from University of Southern California’s School of Dramatic Arts. Heelan soon landed her breakout role as Holly in season 3 of ABC’s Cougar Town, a character that returned in the show’s sixth season. Following the success of Cougar Town, producer Bill Lawrence featured Heelan in two more of his programs simultaneously. She starred in Ground Floor on TBS for the entirety of the show’s run from 2013-2015 while making recurring appearances in NBC’s Undateable. In 2016, she began appearing in Judd Apatow’s Netflix series Love before going on to star in a lead role in Great News, a critically acclaimed NBC sitcom produced by Tina Fey.
Heelan is married to Ground Floor co-star Rene Gube, and the couple welcomed daughter Bennet Alejandra in 2017. Currently based in Los Angeles, Heelan has made recent appearances in some of America’s most popular shows including Brooklyn Nine Nine, Modern Family, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
