Brookfield Duece, born Frank Thomas Miller II, hails proudly from the vibrant streets of Oakland, California. Rising to prominence as the inaugural signee to Front Page Music Inc., a label helmed by the multifaceted Damian Lillard, who is not only an Oakland rapper but also a standout All-Star Point Guard for the Portland Trail Blazers.
An artist of myriad talents, Duece effortlessly juggles roles as a songwriter, director, and A&R at Front Page Music. His debut album, “America’s Orphans,” dropped to critical acclaim in February 2019, showcasing his prowess as both a wordsmith and a storyteller. Recently, Duece lent his creative genius to UMBER Magazine’s “SAM” issue, solidifying his status as a sought-after collaborator within the industry.
Drawing inspiration from his Oakland roots, Duece’s music serves as a vivid tapestry of urban life, skillfully blending jazz melodies with trap rhythms to paint a poignant picture of his upbringing. His lyrics, brimming with witty double entendres and evocative metaphors, offer a raw and unfiltered glimpse into the African-American experience in contemporary America.
Beyond the confines of the studio, Duece remains deeply connected to his community, with childhood friends still residing in the Brookfield Village neighborhood where he was raised. His familial ties run deep, with a lineage stretching back generations, including his grandfather Albert Alvin Johnson, whose contributions to Oakland’s development resonate to this day.
In collaboration with Grand Nationxl, a creative collective he helped found, Duece continues to push boundaries with projects like their debut compilation album, “Twice on Sunday (Season 1),” released in June 2020. Through his artistry, Duece fearlessly confronts societal issues, offering a poignant commentary on the cultural landscape of today.
