Daniel Lamont “Bubba” Franks, born on January 6, 1978, in Riverside, California, established a distinguished career as a tight end in Football. He attended Big Spring High School in Big Spring, Texas, where he excelled as an all-state tight end. His collegiate football journey took him to the University of Miami, where he became recognized for his exceptional one-handed receptions. During his time with the Miami Hurricanes from 1997 to 1999, after redshirting in 1996, Franks set the University of Miami record for most touchdowns by a tight end, achieving 12. His performance earned him a place on the All-Big East team twice and led to All-American honors in 1999. Franks opted to forgo his final year of collegiate eligibility to enter the NFL Draft.

In the 2000 NFL Draft, Bubba Franks was a first-round selection, chosen 14th overall by the Green Bay Packers. Following a rookie season, he quickly ascended to become a prominent player, earning his first Pro Bowl selection in his second NFL year. During the 2001 season, he recorded nine touchdown passes. His consistent high-level play resulted in two additional Pro Bowl selections in 2002 and 2003. Throughout his tenure with the Packers, Franks was a key component of their offense, demonstrating reliability and strong receiving capabilities. His career was marked by solid statistical output, including 262 receptions for 2,347 yards and 32 touchdowns over his career.

After an impactful eight seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Franks experienced an injury-affected 2007 season, which led to his release in February 2008. He subsequently signed a one-year deal with the New York Jets on March 16, 2008. He played for the Jets for one season, participating in 8 games before his release on July 13, 2009. His professional career spanned nine seasons where he was consistently an effective player in the tight end position.
