Callum Brown emerged as a promising Gaelic football player for County Derry in Ireland before his transition to Australian Rules Football. His athletic abilities were identified by the GIANTS’ Irish scouting program in 2017, leading to a 12-month trial process with the club. During this period, Brown spent two weeks training with the GIANTS under the guidance of then-head coach Leon Cameron. In October 2018, Brown officially signed with the GIANTS as a Category B Rookie, a significant milestone as he became the first player to join the GIANTS’ AFL program directly from Ireland. His initial years were dedicated to development within the club.
After two years of development, Brown made his AFL debut as the GIANTS’ fifth debutant of the 2021 season. He marked this occasion by kicking two goals in a round 21 victory against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium. His performance led to his elevation to the GIANTS’ senior list. In 2023, Brown demonstrated substantial progress, setting new career season-highs with 19 games played and 19 goals scored. His capacity to both mark overhead and perform effectively at ground level secured his position in Adam Kingsley’s best 22. He continued his strong form into the 2024 season, playing an additional 13 games and contributing 17 goals, further cementing his role within the team.
