Captain Joe, also known as Joe Diebolder, embarked on his aviation career in 2005, obtaining his Private Pilot License (PPL) in Austria. He furthered his training at a private flight school near Düsseldorf, where he earned his Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot Licenses (CPL and ATPL). His practical flight training took place at Flight Safety Academy in Vero Beach, Florida, culminating in his final check flight in Germany at the age of 23. Despite facing challenges due to the economic crisis, Joe embraced his first role as a skydiving pilot, gaining invaluable experience flying the Pilatus Porter in southern Germany.
After a year, Joe transitioned to a commercial pilot position with an executive company, flying the Beech King Air 200. This role allowed him to accumulate significant flight hours and experience, preparing him for the airline industry. In 2010, he achieved his dream of flying for Germany’s second-largest charter carrier, becoming type-rated on the Airbus A320 family. Over eight years, he enjoyed flying from various bases, including Stuttgart and Munich, until the company faced bankruptcy, prompting him to seek new opportunities.
Undeterred, Joe quickly secured a position with a large cargo airline, fulfilling his childhood dream of flying the Boeing 747-400 and 747/8. His extensive type rating and line training prepared him for global adventures, solidifying his reputation as a skilled pilot. Alongside his flying career, Joe has become a prominent figure in the aviation community through his YouTube channel, where he simplifies complex aviation topics for his audience.
