Caroline Hirons

Caroline Hirons was born in Liverpool and spent part of her childhood in the US. Influenced by her mother and grandmother, who worked in department store beauty sections, she gained an early understanding of the beauty industry. At 17, in 1987, Hirons moved to London and worked in a record shop. Her career in beauty began in 1997 when she joined Aveda at Harvey Nichols, followed by a period at Space NK. During this time, she trained as a beauty therapist, developing her expertise in skincare.

Hirons started blogging in 2010 at the age of 40, which quickly gained popularity. She also maintained a presence on YouTube until 2021. In 2020, she published her book, ‘Skincare,’ which became a Number 1 Sunday Times Bestseller and is recognized as the UK’s bestselling skincare title. This book received the Non-Fiction Lifestyle Book of the Year 2021 at the British Book Awards. An updated version, ‘Skincare: The New Edit,’ was released in November 2021, and her book ‘Teen Skincare’ is scheduled for June 2025. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hirons launched the Beauty Backed fundraising initiative, raising over £600,000 to support the beauty industry.

In July 2022, Hirons launched Skin Rocks, a comprehensive skincare app that rapidly became a top-ranked free app. Following the app’s success, she introduced her Skin Rocks skincare line in November 2022, starting with retinoid products. The range has since expanded to include an eye cream and light moisturizer. In 2025, she further expanded her enterprise with Skin Rocks Pro, a professional line designed for salons and clinics. These initiatives underscore her influence and commitment to advancing skincare knowledge and product development.
