Retired Canadian ice-hockey player Cassie Campbell-Pascall is best known as the former captain of the Canadian Women’s ice-hockey team.
As Canada’s longest-serving women’s ice hockey team captain, Campbell-Pascall is the only captain to have lead the country to win two Olympic gold medals. Throughout her time with the team, Campbell-Pascall has participated in the Toronto Ice Tournament, four national cups, seven international women’s ice-hockey championships and three winter Olympic games. Alongside her team, she has won an impressive 21 medals, 17 of which were gold and four silver. Following her retirement from ice-hockey in 2006, Campbell-Pascall went on to be a rink-side reporter for Canada’s Hockey Night and became the first woman ever to do colour commentary on the broadcast. She also provided colour commentary for the women’s ice hockey during the 2010, 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics. Now a sought-after motivational speaker, Campbell-Pascall speaks passionately to audiences across the country on leadership and teamwork skills, whilst drawing on her accomplishments. In 2007 she published her first book H.E.A.R.T, providing readers with practical advice on becoming a better athlete and person overall.
Alongside her gold medals, Campbell-Pascall was inducted in 2012 into the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame and during the same year she was honoured with Order of Hockey in Canada and received the Queen’s, Diamond Jubilee Medal. The 14th March is officially known as Cassie Campbell Day on Prince Edward Island and in 2008 her hometown of Brampton Ontario opened the Cassie Campbell Community centre. Of her philanthropy work, Campbell-Pascall has also raised over $3.5 million for the Ronald McDonald House at her annual street hockey tournament.
