United States Trent Frederic is an American professional ice hockey forward with a career spanning collegiate and National Hockey League (NHL) play.

Trent Frederic was born on February 11, 1998, in St. Louis, Missouri. His early exposure to hockey, influenced by his parents’ support of the St. Louis Blues and coaching from former NHL players like Keith Tkachuk and Jeff Brown, began the foundation of his career. Frederic played multiple sports during his childhood, including football and baseball, before being recruited by the USA Hockey National Team Development Program in October 2013. He spent two seasons with the program, participating in various tournaments and accumulating 19 points in 58 United States Hockey League games. This early experience in competitive hockey established his commitment to the sport.
Frederic continued his development in college, committing to the Wisconsin Badgers for the 2016–17 season. He was drafted by the Boston Bruins as the 29th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. During his freshman year at the University of Wisconsin, he led the team with 15 goals and 33 points in 30 games, earning the title of Big Ten Freshman of the Year and being named the Badgers’ MVP. As a sophomore in the 2017–18 season, he served as an alternate captain and led the Badgers with 17 goals, accumulating 32 points in 36 games. His collegiate success led him to sign a three-year entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins in March 2018.
His professional career began with the Providence Bruins, Boston’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, in 2018. Frederic made his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins during the 2018–19 season and continued to progress within the organization, alternating between the AHL and NHL rosters. A significant turning point came in the 2022–23 season under coach Jim Montgomery, where Frederic’s confidence and performance improved, leading to a career-high 17 goals and 31 points in 79 games. In March 2025, Frederic was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in a three-team deal. He later signed an eight-year, $30.8 million contract extension with the Oilers in June 2025, securing his impactful presence in the NHL.
