Cecilia D’Anastasio built her career as an American journalist devoted to covering the video game industry, a beat she has pursued across some of the most respected newsrooms in American media. Her professional path took shape at Kotaku, where she wrote from 2016 to 2020 and sharpened an investigative approach to reporting on gaming culture and the people who make it.

It was at Kotaku that D’Anastasio produced her defining breakthrough: a 2018 article reporting allegations of sexual harassment and gender discrimination at Riot Games. The reporting drew widespread recognition and marked her as a journalist willing to hold major industry institutions accountable, shaping conversations about workplace culture across the gaming world.

After her years at Kotaku, D’Anastasio moved to Wired magazine before joining Bloomberg News in 2022 to continue covering the video game industry. Her investigative work at Bloomberg earned a 2024 George Polk Award for reporting on child exploitation in Roblox, adding one of journalism’s most respected honors to her record.
