Charlie Davies

Born on June 25, 1986, in Manchester, New Hampshire, Charlie Davies embarked on his soccer journey accumulating numerous records at Brooks School before excelling at Boston College. A standout collegiate athlete, he was named to the Soccer America and College Soccer News Freshman All-America teams and earned the BIG EAST rookie of the year title. In his junior year, Davies achieved NSCAA All-America first-team honors and was recognized as the ACC Offensive Player of the Year, alongside being a finalist for the prestigious Hermann Trophy in 2006. Post-college, Davies signed his first professional contract with Hammarby IF in Sweden in December 2006, where he made 55 appearances and scored 21 goals, including 15 goals in the 2008 season. His performance led to a move to Ligue 1 club Sochaux in July 2009. Davies’ early career was marked by his speed and ability to get behind defenses, making him a valuable asset on any team.

Davies’ career faced a significant challenge on October 13, 2009, when he was involved in a serious car accident that caused severe injuries. Despite the setback, he demonstrated remarkable resilience, returning to training with Sochaux in April 2010. Following his recovery, Davies joined D.C. United on loan in February 2011, making an immediate impact by scoring two goals in his debut. He continued to play a pivotal role, leading MLS in scoring with six goals by May and recording a hat-trick against Chivas USA. Davies later moved to Randers FC in Denmark, making 23 appearances. In 2013, he was loaned to the New England Revolution, where he eventually signed permanently. He was a key figure in the Revolution’s 2014 MLS Cup run, scoring multiple crucial goals and ending the 2015 season as the team’s leading scorer with 10 goals and 4 assists. He retired from playing soccer on March 2, 2018.

After retiring from professional play, Davies transitioned into a multifaceted career off the field. He now serves as a TV and media soccer analyst and host, providing insights and commentary on the sport. Davies is also a public speaker and holds ambassador roles with prestigious organizations such as the U.S. Soccer Foundation and Nike. Furthermore, he is the first-ever club ambassador for the New England Revolution, where he contributes to various business operations, including fan and community relations and corporate partnerships. Davies is also a member of the Boston Children’s Hospital Philanthropic Board, demonstrating his commitment to community involvement.
