Chris Canty has transitioned from Super Bowl champion NFL defensive lineman to a prominent sports radio host and a dedicated philanthropist. After a distinguished collegiate career that included being a two-time second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (All-ACC) selection, Chris Canty was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round (132nd overall pick) of the 2005 NFL draft. While at the University of Virginia, Canty earned consecutive All-ACC honors in 2002 and 2003. As a sophomore in 2002, he recorded 86 tackles, four tackles for losses, and two sacks despite missing three games.
In his junior year (2003), Canty was recognized as Lineman of the Year in Virginia and received the Ned McDonald Award as UVA’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player. He achieved a career-high 104 tackles that season, becoming only the second down lineman in school history to surpass 100 tackles, along with 12 tackles for losses and four sacks. Canty further demonstrated his commitment as an All-ACC Academic honoree, completing his bachelor’s degree in African American studies in May 2004 and pursuing graduate coursework in secondary education. Canty’s professional football career spanned a decade, beginning with the Dallas Cowboys where he played from 2005 to 2008.
