Chris Orr has transitioned from a collegiate and professional football linebacker to a defensive quality control coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. After setting a University of Wisconsin-Madison school record for most sacks by an inside/middle linebacker with 11.5 during his senior season in 2019, Chris Orr established a formidable football career before transitioning into coaching. That year, he started all 14 games, recording 78 tackles and 14 tackles for loss. He further honed his academic prowess, earning a Bachelor of Science in Life Science Communication in 2018 and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 2019 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
In 2024, Orr made a pivotal move into full-time coaching roles, demonstrating his versatility and expertise. He served as an Assistant Linebackers Coach at Baylor University, where he supported Head Coach Dave Aranda and Coach Jamar Chaney. Additionally, Orr contributed to the success of HBCU National Champion Jackson State University, holding the dual roles of Linebackers Coach and Run Game Coordinator. His emerging coaching talent then led him to gain valuable experience as a Football Intern with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024.
Building on his internship, Chris Orr officially joined the Kansas City Chiefs coaching staff in 2025 as a Defensive Quality Control Coach. This current role highlights his continued upward trajectory within elite professional football, leveraging his extensive background as a collegiate record-setter and NFL player to develop top-tier defensive talent.
