Chris Petersen

Chris Petersen, a decorated collegiate football coach, built two highly successful programs at Boise State and the University of Washington, culminating in a combined head coaching record of 147-38 over 14 seasons. Petersen’s career began with a distinguished playing career as a quarterback at Sacramento City College and UC Davis, where he set several records for completion percentage and was named his conference’s Player of the Year and UC Davis’ Male Athlete of the Year in his senior season. His exceptional contributions led to his induction into the Cal Aggie Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997. Following his playing days, Petersen embarked on a coaching journey in 1987 as a freshman coach at UC Davis, progressing through assistant roles at the University of Pittsburgh, Portland State University, and the University of Oregon.

Petersen earned his 100th career coaching victory in his 117th career game, a testament to his consistent success and rapid program building. He retired from coaching in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of strategic leadership, championship victories, and a steadfast commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field.
