Chris Wright

Chris Wright was born on November 4, 1989, in Washington, District of Columbia. He attended St. John’s College in Washington, D.C., where he became a highly decorated high school basketball player. Wright was a three-time All-Met selection by the Washington Post, the first to achieve this since Adrian Dantley, and set an all-time school record with 2,580 career points. As a senior in 2006-07, he averaged 30.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.3 assists, leading the Cadets to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title game. His high school accolades included being named a McDonald’s All-American, winning the McDonald’s All-American Classic three-point shooting contest, and participating in the Jordan Brand All-Star Classic in New York. He also earned the Gatorade Washington, D.C. Player of the Year award.

Following his high school career, Wright played college basketball for Georgetown, where he continued to develop as a prominent player. He consistently contributed to the team, leading in various statistical categories during his tenure. In the 2009-10 season, his junior year, Wright was third on the team in scoring with 15.2 points per game and led the team with 4.1 assists per game, ranking 11th in the BIG EAST. He also led the team in steals with 51, tying for fifth in the BIG EAST. His 517 points that season were the 24th-best single-season total in Georgetown’s history, and his 138 assists ranked 21st. The following season, his senior year (2010-11), he averaged 12.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. His college career statistics include 1,369 points, 442 assists, and 317 rebounds over 110 games.

Wright made his NBA debut on March 15, 2013, after signing a 10-day contract with the Dallas Mavericks. He played in three games during his one-year NBA career. Notably, in 2012, prior to his NBA debut, Chris Wright was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Less than a year later, he became the first person with MS to play in the NBA, marking a significant milestone in sports history. His professional basketball journey also included playing in Europe. Beyond his playing career, Wright has ventured into entrepreneurship, founding Flyght Academy, FAPrepFootball, FlyghtHoops, and The Wright Way Foundation. He is also a co-host of The Dawg Talk Podcast.
