Christopher Sean

Christopher Sean Friel was born on October 25, 1985, in Oak Harbor, Washington, to a Navy veteran father and a Japanese native mother. Growing up in a military family, Sean developed an early comfort in front of the camera, primarily residing in Southern California. His background is a blend of Japanese, Irish, Spanish, and German heritage. This diverse background influenced his understanding of representation in media, and he initially encountered challenges in the industry due to his mixed ethnicity. He maintains a foundational training in various martial arts, including boxing, Taekwondo, wrestling, Jujutsu, and mixed martial arts, alongside proficiency in Japanese.

Sean’s career began with modeling work, and in 2007, he won the Mr. Asia USA pageant, which included an acting class prize. He made early television appearances in 2010 on “The Bold and the Beautiful” and later on “Hollywood Heights” in 2012. A notable early role was Bing Lee in the web series “The Lizzie Bennet Diaries” (2012-2013). His presence on screen grew with a recurring role as Gabriel Waincroft in CBS’s “Hawaii Five-0” from 2014 to 2016, appearing in 13 episodes. In October 2014, he joined the cast of NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” as Paul Narita, a pro baseball player, a role he maintained as a contract cast member for four years until 2018, and later reprised in 2022 for “Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem.”

Beyond live-action roles, Sean established a significant presence in voice acting, especially known for his lead role as Kazuda Xiono in the animated series “Star Wars Resistance” (2018-2020). He has also lent his voice to various video game characters, including Dick Grayson/Nightwing in “Gotham Knights” (2022) and Hiro Okamura/Toyman in “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” (2024). In 2021, Sean had a recurring role as Brandon in the third season of the Netflix psychological thriller series “You.” His animated film work includes the lead voice role of Ken Sato/Ultraman in Netflix’s “Ultraman: Rising” (2024).
