About

Collins Key was born on May 9, 1996, in Los Angeles, California, to Steven and Anne Key. At the age of 13, he was accepted into the Junior Program at the Hollywood Famous Magic Castle, after nine months of practicing magic. His early career gained significant traction when he was discovered on YouTube by producers of “America’s Got Talent” at 16 years old. His appearance on the eighth season of the show marked him as the first magician to reach the finals, earning him the moniker “Magic’s First Pop Star.” In 2013, following his success on the show, Key embarked on a 36-city tour across the country with “America’s Got Talent Live,” which spanned six weeks.

In 2014, Key continued to expand his reach by joining Demi Lovato’s “Neon Lights Tour.” During this tour, he served as both a host and a performer of magic, sharing the stage with other acts such as Fifth Harmony, Little Mix, and Cher Lloyd. The same year, he was invited to present at the Teen Choice Awards alongside known personalities like Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, and Kylie Jenner. Post-“America’s Got Talent,” Key shifted his focus to his YouTube channel, where he collaborated with his younger brother, Devan Key, primarily creating comedy videos. This strategic move resulted in substantial growth for his channel, increasing from 2 million to 18 million subscribers in just two years. As of March 2024, his YouTube channel has accumulated nearly 24 million subscribers and over 6.7 billion total lifetime views.

Key also produced and starred in “The Disappearing Girl,” a web series developed in partnership with AT&T. This project garnered several industry awards, including a Shorty Award, an AdWeek Arc Award, a Cannes Lions Award, and a Streamy Award. In 2017, Disney Channel offered Key the opportunity to create and produce six weeks of interstitial content for their Fall Season Friday Night Lineup, making him the first digital creator to do so. That same year, he delivered a TEDx talk at the University of Santa Barbara, sharing his experiences as a magician. His continued influence led him to headline the YouTube FanFest concert in Mumbai, India, in 2018, and receive nominations for Choice Male Web Star and Choice Comedy Web Star at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards. By 2020, his YouTube subscriber count had exceeded 22.5 million.
