Crystal Methyd
A different kind of queen with a kooky, creative style, Crystal Methyd is a drag performer who rose to fame on Season 12 of Ru Paul’s Drag Race. Thrifty, crazy but very glamorous, she was described as the dark horse of the season by Kayla Blanton of Bustle, and her quirky charm helped her finish as runner-up with Gigi Goode.
Born Cody Harness in San Jose, Calfiornia, she moved to Missouri when she was 5 years old. After graduating from Missouri State University he first performed in drag in 2015 at Springfield PrideFest, showcasing an original look that the crowd loved. The rising star then launched “Get Dusted” at the Outland Ballroom in Springfield, Missouri, a monthly drag show which was credited with reenergizing the Springfield drag scene.
Crystal Methyd made her television debut in 2020 on the 12th season of American reality competition RuPaul’s Drag Race. With a different kind of persona to the typical contestants, her runway looks are now considered iconic, and her highlights include her lip sync to Nelly Furtado classic “I’m Like a Bird” in the finale. After finishing as runner-up, the glamorous star has seen her career reach stratospheric new heights. She is also taking the world of social media by storm, with 877k followers on Instagram. Her new merchandise range will be available to buy soon, and as expected it’s just as quirky and original as the queen herself.
