Crystal Methyd is a drag performer recognized for her unique aesthetic and stage presence, building a career that extends from local Springfield, Missouri shows to international tours and television appearances.
Cody D. Harness, known as Crystal Methyd, was born on April 16, 1991, in San Jose, California. At the age of five, his family relocated to Springfield, Missouri. He graduated from Missouri State University. His drag career began in 2015 with his first performance at Springfield PrideFest. Crystal Methyd quickly established a local presence, launching the monthly drag show “Get Dusted” at Outland Ballroom in Springfield and co-hosting the city’s inaugural drag brunch in 2017. These initiatives were instrumental in revitalizing the local drag scene, offering a platform to a diverse range of performers.
In 2020, Crystal Methyd gained wider recognition as a contestant on the twelfth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, where she was a runner-up alongside Gigi Goode, with Jaida Essence Hall winning the season. During her time on the show, she became known for her distinctive style and creativity. Following her success on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Crystal Methyd expanded her reach globally. In September 2021, she embarked on an international tour, “Crystal & Jujubee’s Wonderland Euro Tour,” performing in seven European cities with fellow drag race alumna Jujubee.
Her career continued to evolve with ventures into acting; in 2024, Crystal Methyd starred as Bella Da Boys in the Tubi horror-comedy film “Slay.” This film also featured other Drag Race alumni such as Cara Melle, Heidi N Closet, and Trinity the Tuck. Crystal Methyd maintains her residency in Springfield, Missouri, and is also recognized as the drag mother of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 14 contestant Daya Betty.
