Daniel Graham is a two-time Super Bowl champion tight end for the New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans, and New Orleans Saints, who consistently delivered both receiving and blocking contributions throughout his NFL career.
Daniel Lawrence Graham was born on November 16, 1978, in Torrance, California. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Denver, Colorado, where he excelled in football, playing tight end, outside linebacker, long snapper, and placekicker. In his senior year, he recorded 33 receptions for 741 yards and six touchdowns, along with twelve quarterback sacks and 29 tackles. He also earned three letters in basketball, demonstrating his diverse athletic capabilities from an early age.
Graham continued his football career at the University of Colorado, playing for the Colorado Buffaloes from 1998 to 2001. Initially starting two games as a fullback, he transitioned to tight end, where he became a key player. In 2001, he received the John Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end, was named first-team All-Big 12, and earned consensus first-team All-American honors. He concluded his college career with 106 receptions for 1,543 yards and 11 touchdowns.
His professional career began in 2002 when the New England Patriots selected him as the 21st overall pick in the NFL Draft. During his five seasons with the Patriots (2002-2006), Graham was an integral part of two Super Bowl championship teams (Super Bowl XXXVIII and Super Bowl XXXIX). He developed a reputation for his reliable receiving, with 120 receptions for 1,393 yards and 17 touchdowns for the team, and his strong blocking abilities. Following his time with the Patriots, Graham signed with the Denver Broncos in 2007, where he played four seasons (2007-2010), serving as an offensive captain. He later played for the Tennessee Titans (2011) and the New Orleans Saints (2012), accumulating a career total of 224 receptions for 2,490 yards and 25 touchdowns across 148 games before retiring in 2013.
