Daniel Kordan

Daniel Kordan developed a deep connection with nature from his childhood, growing up near a lake region outside Moscow. His early experiences included observing sunrises over foggy lakes and hoarfrost-covered trees during winters, which shaped his appreciation for natural beauty. He attended painting school for six years, where he learned about composition and color theory. This artistic background influenced his photographic style, teaching him to find hidden details in dark areas and to use color boldly. Kordan’s interest in exploration was further fueled by reading about Arctic and Antarctic expeditions, inspiring his current photography goals.

Approximately ten years ago, Kordan began working as a mountain guide, which provided opportunities to travel and experience diverse landscapes, including sunrises above the clouds. These trips solidified his desire to document and share these moments through photography. He recognized that his camera facilitated encounters with new people and places. Currently, Kordan is involved in long-term projects like the “Two Poles” yachting expedition, traveling from Saint-Petersburg to Antarctica via Svalbard and Greenland, where he also conducts photography workshops.

Kordan emphasizes individuality in photography during his workshops, noting that each photographer brings a unique perspective to a location. He is an ambassador for photography brands and travels globally, focusing on remote and natural environments. His work centers on capturing the raw beauty of different regions, ranging from the Lofoten Islands to Tuscany. He consistently uses professional-grade equipment for high-quality prints and prioritizes reliability in his gear choice, particularly for expeditions in challenging conditions.
