Lauren Ash

Lauren Ash, born on February 4, 1983, in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, began her career in comedy, sharpening her skills at The Second City in both Toronto and Chicago. She became one half of the sketch comedy duo “Cory!” and quickly gained recognition within the Canadian comedy scene. Her early career saw her win two Canadian Comedy Awards for Best Female Improviser in 2006 and 2007. She further cemented her comedic credentials by winning for Best Comedic Play in 2008 and Best Sketch Troupe in 2006. These early achievements laid the groundwork for her transition into television and film.

Ash’s television career includes diverse roles in Canadian series such as “Scare Tactics” and “Almost Heroes,” where she earned a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Performance by a Female – Television in 2012. She also had recurring roles in “The Ron James Show” and made guest appearances in popular shows like “Lost Girl,” “Cracked,” “Bomb Girls,” and “Call Me Fitz.” Her film work includes the Academy Award-nominated “Lars and the Real Girl” (2007), “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2” (2015), and “The Disaster Artist” (2017). Her voice-acting credits include Sam Goldman in the animated series “The Dating Guy” and Scorpia in “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power” (2018-2020).

A significant turning point in Ash’s career came with her role as Dina Fox in the NBC sitcom “Superstore,” which she starred in from 2015 to 2021 across 113 episodes. During this period, she also wrote an episode for the series. In 2021, she signed an overall talent and development deal with NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, signaling her expanded role in content creation, including writing a half-hour comedy pilot. More recently, Ash ventured into music in 2023, releasing singles and an EP, and has a full-length album scheduled for September 2025. She also hosts a podcast, “True Crime and Cocktails,” with her cousin Christy Oxborrow, which began in 2020. Her recent television work includes a series regular role as Lexi Rhodes in “Not Dead Yet” (2023-2024), Beverly/Additional Voices/Beryl in “Kiff” (2023–2025), and Sandpaper/Petitioner/Nutso the Rapping Squirrel in “Rock, Paper, Scissors” (2024).
