Sean Penn

Sean Penn has established a comprehensive career as an actor, film director, and producer, earning critical recognition and engaging in extensive humanitarian and political activism. After earning his first Academy Award nomination for his powerful portrayal of a Death Row inmate in Dead Man Walking (1995), Sean Penn went on to establish a comprehensive career as a celebrated actor, director, and producer. Penn first gained wider recognition as Jeff Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High in 1982, following his feature film debut in Taps (1981). His early acclaimed roles included Bad Boys (1983) and At Close Range (1986), leading to a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in Carlito’s Way (1993).

As a director, he garnered a DGA Award nomination for Into the Wild (2007). Beyond his extensive film career, Penn has been a prominent figure in humanitarian and political activism. Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the devastating 2010 Haiti earthquake, he founded the J/P Haitian Relief Organization. His dedicated efforts led to his appointment as Ambassador-at-Large for Haiti in 2012, and he was honored with the Peace Summit Award that same year.

Also in 2021, he directed the film Flag Day, in which he also starred. In 2022, he took on a prominent role in the acclaimed television series Gaslit.
