Danny Blake

Daniel Blake, born in Arizona and now residing in Los Angeles, spent his formative years immersed in music. Influenced by his guitar-playing father and grandfather, he was exposed to classic artists such as Van Morrison, The Beatles, Carole King, and James Taylor. While he learned to play guitar and drums early on, his focus on singing and songwriting developed later in life. For many years, Blake pursued music informally, balancing his passion with other commitments. Approximately two years ago, Blake decided to actively pursue his musical aspirations, beginning by performing at open mic nights in Claremont and other venues across Los Angeles.

Blake’s career progression accelerated after gaining traction within the L.A. music community. He connected with a music producer who helped him craft his debut EP, “Circle Mountain,” which was released in November 2018. Since the EP’s release, Blake has continued to perform and compose new material, with plans for a new EP in the near future. He describes his songwriting process as having both active and passive styles, drawing inspiration from daily life and allowing ideas to evolve organically. Blake emphasizes the continuous learning process inherent in being an independent artist, navigating an industry without predefined paths while appreciating the support of the local music scene.

Blake’s work is characterized by eclectic melodies and authentic finger-picking, rooted in classic rock, old school, and 90s influences. His music often explores themes of love and loss, as exemplified by his sophomore EP, “Jakarta,” an indie-folk study. Despite the challenges of balancing a full-time job with his musical pursuits, Blake remains dedicated to his craft, focusing on the small milestones that contribute to his overall artistic journey. He believes that luck in his career is a direct result of consistent effort and dedicated work.
