After being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round as the 173rd overall pick in 1998, Matt Birk embarked on a distinguished 14-season NFL career. Following two seasons as a backup offensive lineman, Birk became the starting center for the Vikings in 2000, a position he held consistently for several years. During his tenure with the team, he earned six coveted Pro Bowl selections in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007.
His illustrious playing career culminated in a Super Bowl XLVII victory with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013, after which he announced his retirement from the NFL.
