Daung

Daung, born Thuya Aung on March 30, 1990, in Minhla, Burma, initially pursued a career in music and professional football before transitioning into acting. He moved to Mandalay in the second grade and later to Yangon, where he developed his musical talents as a self-taught singer-songwriter. His athletic career saw him sign as a striker for Southern Myanmar F.C. in 2012, a position he held for a few years before leaving football.

His acting career began in 2015 with a leading role in the film “The Second Heart,” after being selected from nearly 500 amateur actors by Satori Creative Works. He gained further recognition with his role in the 2017 film “Little Umbrella Story,” which was a domestic success. His popularity significantly increased through the 2017 television series “Bagan Myo Thu,” where his role as Maung Maung Gyi contributed to the show becoming the most-watched Burmese television drama at the time. In 2018, Daung achieved widespread fame with his first big-screen leading role in the horror-thriller “The Only Mom,” which remained in local theaters for a record seven weeks and was screened internationally across 13 other nations. The same year, he starred in “Wind up Dancer” and the TV series “Longing with Love.” His successful trajectory continued into 2019 with the epic drama film “Legend of the Rain.”

In 2020, Daung became an ambassador for the Doh Gabar campaign, an environmental awareness initiative. Expanding his career internationally, he was cast in the Thai drama series “From Chao Phraya to Irrawaddy,” which premiered in 2022. This series later won Best TV Drama of the Year and Best Creative Team of the Year at the Nineentertain awards in Thailand in 2023. His diverse engagements highlight his versatility as an actor across various platforms and his commitment to social causes.
