David Habluetzel, born in 1996, ascended to become one of Switzerland’s most illustrious freestyle snowboarders. Despite parental preferences leaning towards skiing, David, the eldest among five siblings, tenaciously pursued his passion for snowboarding, finally convincing his parents to let him embrace board sports at the age of 6. This pivotal moment marked the inception of a lifelong devotion to carving through powder and catching air on the slopes. Alongside snowboarding, David found solace and joy in pursuits such as skateboarding, surfing, and relishing the great outdoors, often in the company of cherished friends and family, exploring the world through travel.
At the tender age of 9, David’s journey took a significant turn when he discovered Laax’s Freestyle Academy, a crucible where friendships were forged, and skills honed. By 2008, he was already making waves on the TTR World Series circuit, showcasing his talent as a junior competitor. The years that followed saw David’s meteoric rise, culminating in notable achievements like his podium finish at the Laax Burton European Junior Open in 2010 and a bronze medal in slopestyle at the 2012 Olympic Winter Youth Games in Kühtai, Austria.
In 2012, David’s dedication and skill earned him a coveted spot at the Sportgymnasium Davos and the Swiss Snowboard Pro Team, catapulting him into the ranks of the world’s halfpipe elite. His prowess on the slopes continued to dazzle, with impressive performances at prestigious events including 3rd place at the 2014 US Open, 5th place at the 2014 Olympics, and podium finishes at the 2015 X-Games Aspen and the Burton European Open in 2015 and 2016.
