Denise Scott

Denise Scott is an accomplished Australian comedian, actor, and writer, known for her sharp wit and extensive work across television, radio, and stage. After showcasing her comedic talent on ABC TV’s ‘The Big Gig’ in 1990 and performing a weekly segment on ‘Tonight Live with Steve Vizard’ the same year, Denise Scott established herself as a prominent figure in Australian entertainment. Her early career also included membership in the comedy group ‘The Natural Normans’ in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Scott further built her reputation on stage, co-starring with Judith Lucy and Lynda Gibson in the critically acclaimed productions ‘Comedy Is Not Pretty’ (1999) and ‘Comedy Is Still Not Pretty’ (2003).

Further demonstrating her comedic prowess, she won the People’s Choice Award for ‘Disappointments’ alongside Judith Lucy in 2017, and joined ‘Studio 10’ as a panellist in 2018, later competing in ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in 2019. Most recently, Scott starred as Maggie in the critically anticipated reboot of the sitcom ‘Mother and Son,’ which commenced in 2023 and is ongoing. Her extensive contributions to Australian arts and entertainment were formally recognized in 2023 when she was honored with membership in the Order of Australia for her significant service as a comedian and actress.
