About

Julia Ling was born in Southern California and demonstrated an early aptitude for performance and academics. At the age of eight, her solo dance performance was broadcast on national television, and she later became a State Finalist in the Miss America Pageant at sixteen. Academically, she graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA, second in her class, and pursued a major in chemical engineering at UCLA. During her time at UCLA, she held the position of Vice President of the Engineering Society and was an honorary member of the Society of Women Engineers. She returned to UCLA to study film producing and to obtain a professional certificate in Mandarin Chinese.

Ling’s acting career spans multiple prime-time television series, beginning with her debut on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” in 2003. She gained recognition for recurring roles on “Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip” as Kim Tao and as Anna Wu on NBC’s “Chuck” for 31 episodes from 2007 to 2010. Her television work also includes appearances on medical dramas such as “House,” “ER,” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” as well as “The O.C.” and “The Deep End.” In 2007, she was selected as a Top Four Finalist in the Jackie Chan Disciples martial arts competition, where she also received the “Best Acting Award.” She voiced the live-action character Izumi for the video game “Command and Conquer” (EA) in 2008.

Beyond acting, Ling has expanded into filmmaking. She founded her own production company, Silver Rose Entertainment, which focuses on writing, script coverage, and film production. Her company has collaborated with scientists from Cal Tech and the University of Illinois. She co-created, produced, and starred in short films such as “Brotherhood,” which won “best action” at the Urban Action Film Festival, and “Tango Down,” which received “Best Short Film” at the 573 Film Festival in Perryville, MO. Ling is also involved in Veteran Powered Films, a passion project aimed at providing opportunities for military veterans in film production, addressing issues like veteran suicide.
