Didi Gregorius is a professional baseball shortstop known for his extensive career in Major League Baseball and his international appearances for the Dutch national team. After making his Major League Baseball debut with the Cincinnati Reds on September 5, 2012, Didi Gregorius quickly established himself as a prominent shortstop. Following his debut, Gregorius was part of a three-team trade, moving to the Arizona Diamondbacks in December 2012. During his two seasons with the Diamondbacks, he recorded his first major league home run on April 18, 2013, becoming the first Diamondback to hit a home run in his first at-bat on the first pitch.
That same year, he signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners in June, opting out in August. He was selected third overall in the inaugural Baseball United draft by the Dubai Wolves on October 23, 2023. Gregorius has also represented the Netherlands national baseball team, winning the 2011 Baseball World Cup and earning an honorary knighthood under the Order of Orange-Nassau, 5th class, that year. Most recently, Gregorius signed a second stint with the Algodoneros de Unión Laguna on April 7, 2024.
His international achievements continued, being named to the All-World Team as the best shortstop at the 2024 WBSC Premier12, and he is set to be named MVP of the 2025 European Championship, underscoring his lasting impact on the global baseball stage.
