Julio Daniel Martinez, born on August 21, 1987, in Miami, FL, began his baseball career at Flanagan High School, where he achieved consecutive state titles. He then attended Nova Southeastern University, setting a school record with 73 runs in his junior year before being drafted by the Houston Astros in the 20th round of the 2009 MLB Draft. His early minor league career was marked by rapid progression, earning him multiple awards, including the South Atlantic League MVP in 2010 and Astros Minor League Player of the Year in both 2010 and 2011.
Martinez made his Major League Baseball debut with the Houston Astros in 2011. A pivotal turning point in his career came in 2014 when he joined the Detroit Tigers as a free agent. With the Tigers, he established himself as a prominent power hitter, earning his first All-Star selection in 2015 and a Silver Slugger Award the same year. His tenure with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017 further showcased his hitting prowess, notably hitting four home runs in a single game, becoming the 18th player in MLB history to achieve this milestone.

He also played a crucial role in the Red Sox’s 2018 World Series Championship.
