United States Dr. Adeline Kikam, a board-certified dermatologist, has established herself as a leading voice in inclusive skincare, advocating for equitable representation and access to dermatological care for people of color.
Dr. Kikam launched her social media platform, Brown Skin Derm™ and clinic, Skinclusive Dermatology™ to bridge the gap in information and dermatologic care for people of color.

Neutrogena has enrolled Dr. Kikam as a long-term brand partner, with plans to launch a dedicated content series featuring her as part of their new "Heroes of Skin Health Equity Initiative."
Dr. Adeline Kikam’s passion for equitable skincare began in her childhood, stemming from her personal experiences with acne and the limited availability of treatment options and information tailored for melanated skin. This early challenge, coupled with the lack of relatable imagery on product packaging, created a sense of insecurity that motivated her future career path. Her struggles led her to question the efficacy of existing solutions for her skin type, contributing to years of personal discomfort regarding her appearance.
Driven by these experiences, Dr. Kikam pursued medicine, eventually specializing in dermatology. Her training continually revealed the ongoing conversations among various BIPOC individuals about their skin concerns, which were consistently underserved by the mainstream medical field. This validated her observations from childhood, reinforcing the need for specialized knowledge and care for skin of color. Encouraged by friends, and recognizing a void in Black-led skincare social media accounts, she launched her platform, @brownskinderm, in 2017 to share evidence-based information and address these disparities. The platform quickly gained a positive international response, affirming the widespread need for such resources.
Beyond social media, Dr. Kikam expanded her efforts to directly address barriers to dermatologic care, which she identified as a significant issue for Black and Brown communities. This led to the creation of the Brown Skin Derm Consult site and the upcoming launch of Skinclusive Dermatology, a teledermatology platform and an in-person clinic in Florida. These initiatives aim to improve access to dermatologists experienced in treating skin of color, allowing her to connect with her growing community on a deeper patient-doctor level and provide much-needed care.
