Duncan Trussell

Duncan Trussell is an actor, writer, and producer known for his extensive work in television and podcasting, including the co-creation of the Netflix series ‘The Midnight Gospel’. After gaining initial recognition as a nationally touring stand-up comedian alongside Joe Rogan, Duncan Trussell established a versatile career as an actor, writer, and producer. This early collaboration with Rogan extended to television, where Trussell appeared as his sidekick on the SYFY series, ‘Joe Rogan Questions Everything.’ His initial work also included writing and performing in sketches for various television shows, notably two seasons of ‘Stupidface’ on Fuel TV, ‘La La Land’ on Showtime, ‘Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time’ on Comedy Central, and both seasons of HBO’s ‘Funny or Die Presents.’ These roles showcased his range as both a performer and a creative force in the comedy landscape. Trussell continued to expand his presence across television with appearances on ‘MADtv’ and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm.’ He hosted ‘Thunderbrain,’ a comedy science pilot for Comedy Central, and lent his distinctive voice to animated series, including Cartoon Network’s ‘Adventure Time’ from 2013 to 2014 and again in 2021.

This podcast served as the creative foundation for ‘The Midnight Gospel,’ an acclaimed animated Netflix series that he co-created with Pendleton Ward, the Emmy-winning creator of ‘Adventure Time,’ which premiered in 2020. In this innovative series, podcast interviews were uniquely adapted into story dialogue, enhanced with animation to create a high-concept postmodern sci-fi sitcom. In 2016, Trussell also guest-starred as Dave in the HBO animated series ‘Animals.’ Most recently, Duncan Trussell has taken on the main role of Hippocampus in the Fox animated series ‘Krapopolis,’ which premiered in 2023 and is slated to continue through 2025.
