The brilliant young sportsman Josh “Katzy” Katz is a judoka, who competes in the -60kg weight category. He is a 4x Oceania Champion, as well as a Commonwealth Games medalist, and a Pan American-Oceania Championships medalist. He also represented his native Australia at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Born and raised in Australia, Katz took up judo at a young age, and began taking part in cadet and junior events. He quickly established himself as one of the best in the -55kg weight class, going on to win Gold at the 2012 Oceania Junior Championships when he was 14-years-old. He defended his title the following year, and then moved up to the -60kg weight class, going on to win Gold back-to-back in 2014 and 2015 at the Oceania Junior Championships.
Katz also moved into senior competition in 2015 and took his first Gold at the Oceania Championships. He went on to successfully defend his title for three more consecutive years between 2016 to 2018. He also was selected to represent his native Australia at the 2016 Rio Olympics. In 2022 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, winning Bronze, and he also took Bronze at the Pan American-Oceania Championships that same year.
