Ekta Bhyan’s journey is a testament to resilience and determination. After a life-altering accident in 2003 left her wheelchair-bound, she transformed her pain into purpose. What began as a quest for fitness in 2015 blossomed into a remarkable career in para athletics, inspired by fellow athlete Amit Saroha. With grit and unwavering spirit, she trained relentlessly, overcoming two surgeries and countless challenges.
By 2018, Ekta had already made her mark, winning gold at the Asian Para Games in Jakarta with a throw of 16.02m, becoming the first woman from Haryana to achieve this feat. Her competitive spirit shone brightly at the 2024 World Championships in Kobe, where she clinched gold with a season’s best throw of 20.12m, solidifying her status as a world-class athlete. In 2023, she continued to excel, earning bronze medals at both the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai and the Para Games in Hangzhou, China.
Beyond the track, Ekta balances her athletic career with her role as an Employment Officer in Haryana, a position she earned after clearing the Haryana Civil Services Examination in 2011. She believes that true leadership is about clarity, not control, and strives to inspire others through her story. Supported by the GoSports Foundation and Welspun Corp, she remains committed to breaking barriers and advocating for inclusivity in sports. Ekta Bhyan is not just a champion; she is a beacon of hope for many.
