Ema Klinec

Ema Klinec, born on July 2, 1998, in Kranj, Slovenia, is a distinguished ski jumper who has achieved significant milestones in her career. She first gained international recognition at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics in Lillehammer, where she earned gold medals in both individual normal hill and mixed team normal hill events. Her early career also saw her participating in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup, with her first season recorded in 2013-14 and subsequent consistent appearances from the 2015-16 season onwards. Klinec has maintained a strong presence in the World Cup standings, frequently placing within the top 10.

In February 2021, Klinec made history by becoming the first Slovenian female ski jumping world champion, securing the gold medal in the normal hill event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf. This achievement marked a turning point in her career, solidifying her status as a leading athlete in the sport. The same championship also saw her win a silver medal in the women’s team normal hill. Her achievements continued with a bronze medal in the mixed team normal hill at the 2023 Planica World Championships and a silver medal in the mixed team large hill at the 2025 Trondheim World Championships.

A significant career highlight for Ema Klinec occurred in March 2023 at the Vikersundbakken ski flying hill. She became the first woman to officially jump over 200 meters, landing at 203 meters on March 18, 2023. The following day, she further extended this record with a monumental jump of 226 meters, simultaneously winning the first-ever women’s ski flying event in history. These record-breaking performances in ski flying underscore her remarkable skill and daring in the sport. Throughout her career, Klinec has accumulated numerous podium finishes and two individual World Cup wins: in Nizhny Tagil in November 2021 and in Oslo in March 2023.
