Born in 1997, the Canadian Mexican actress has accomplished an extraordinary amount in her 24 years on the planet. Born and raised in London, Ontario, Emilia McCarthy knew from the young age of 7 that she wanted to be an actress just like her fellow Londonian inspirations Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Emilia even attended the same acting school as Rachel.
Shortly following her career revelation, Emilia landed her screen debut at the tender age of 8 on Golden Globe winning film Babel alongside Hollywood heavyweights Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt. The young superstar worked as Elle Fanning’s photo double on the production. Incredibly, at the same age Emilia also published her first book Baby’s Wish with her father’s assistance. The book is based on a dream Emilia had. The following year she landed the role of Laura Westover in the TV movie Booky and The Secret Santa, reprising the same role two years later in the series final instalment Booky’s Crush. Emilia has also performed in numerous theatre productions including crowd favorites Hairspray and Aida.
In 2013 Emilia auditioned for Eli Roth and booked the role of Alyssa Sworn on Netflix’s dark and mysterious series Hemlock Grove. She appeared in nine episodes as one of Sheriff Sworn’s twin daughters. That same year Emilia starred as Kayla in Maps to the Stars which received wide critical acclaim and praise at film festivals around the world including the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. The following year Emilia snagged her first lead in a TV series as Abby Ackerman in Nickelodeon’s Max and Shred. In 2018 she starred as Lacey in Zombies, a Disney Channel Original Movie, as well as its sequel in 2020.
