Acid Betty

Jamin Ruhren, known as Acid Betty, was born on December 10, 1977, in Riverside, California. His interest in drag began at a young age, playfully showcasing an early ability to transform. He attended his first drag club at 17, where he witnessed a performance by Raja, an experience that contributed to his artistic development. Based in Brooklyn, Acid Betty has built a career that spans performing, acting, and music, establishing herself as a distinct presence in the drag community.

Acid Betty’s career began to flourish with early appearances in various projects. In 2008, she was a guest on Project Runway’s fifth season, where RuPaul served as a guest judge. The following year, in 2009, she appeared in the film “An Englishman in New York” alongside John Hurt. Her presence was further solidified with her involvement in the 2010 web series documentary “Queens of Drag: NYC,” which also featured notable drag performers Peppermint, Bianca Del Rio, and Mimi Imfurst. A significant milestone included her role as Ringleader for New York City’s “Rock and Roll Circus” at the Lincoln Center in 2011.

Her national prominence significantly increased with her participation in reality television. In 2016, she was announced as a contestant on the eighth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” where she competed alongside twelve other queens. While on the show, she was eliminated in episode five after the Snatch Game challenge and a lip sync battle. Looking ahead, Acid Betty is slated to return to the forefront of drag competition, as she was announced in April 2025 to be one of eighteen former contestants competing in the tenth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.” Beyond television, Acid Betty has released music, with her first single “Ruthless” in 2012, followed by “Fantasy” and “Acid (Drop)” in 2016, the latter featuring fellow drag artists Kim Chi and Bob the Drag Queen in its music video. She also made a cameo in “The Path” in 2018 and was featured in the “Drive N’ Drag” show in July 2020, showcasing her continued involvement in diverse projects within the entertainment industry.
